the #1 seeded utah jazz's 2020-21 season has come to an end, as they fell to the los angeles clippers in an unbelievable game 6 last night. comeback for the ages. i won't forget watching that game for a while.
it's about time i wrote a post about donovan mitchell, one of the most exciting players in recent memory. the offensive comparisons to dwyane wade are pretty on point - only if wade were somehow even more shifty and had limitless shooting range. it's wild that donovan can play the way he does at his size; i always have to remind myself that he's only 6'1" because he plays so much bigger.
outside of his incredible shot-making ability, i'm extremely impressed with how much he's improved as a passer the past few years. one thing i've noticed is how adept he is at throwing overheard skip passes out of double teams - particularly of the long-range variety.
like this one to jordan clarkson in the opposite corner:
and this one to bojan bogdanović:
and this one to royce o'neale:
look at how smooth this is from this alternate angle... *chef's kiss*:
these are not easy passes to deliver by any means, but he typically gets them there on time and on point even while under immense defensive pressure. look at this pass to clarkson:
vision + precision + strength from spida.
speaking of clarkson though, what the hell was this from game 5 the other night...? i laughed out loud watching this:
