matisse thybulle's weakside pin screen, luka's patience, & pj tucker's perfect but ineffective defense
three medium lights from the past week of playoff games
there are a ton of guys making lots of really nice plays every game in the playoffs, way too many to keep track of. will simply shout out three random ones from this past week in this post.
the first is from matisse thybulle, setting this perfect weakside pin screen to free up seth curry against the atlanta hawks' zone defense:
really nice job of finding the low man (danilo gallinari) by thybulle, great vision from ben simmons to find his open teammate.
the second play is from luka doncic, somewhat snaking the high pick and roll, getting his defender (terance mann, who's improved his game drastically over the past year and has been really good this postseason) on his back, and patiently walks into the lane before faking a pass and euro-stepping into a floater:
so smooth, so patient, so balanced, so skilled, impossible to defend.
the third play is from pj tucker, who i just have to give props to. he plays kevin durant absolutely perfectly here - fights over an off-ball screen, stays attached and denies the ball, forces kd to catch it 30+ feet from the basket, stays on his hip dribble for dribble, contests the shot as well as you humanly can - but it's just not enough:
durant didn't even hit the rim haha, straight bucket. sometimes perfect just isn't good enough. still, great effort from pj.
