troy brown jr. defends four sixers on one possession
singlehandedly blowing up an opponent's offensive set
nothing gets me quite hyped up like a defensive medium light where zero traditional boxscore stats are accrued. no blocks, no steal, no flashiness; just solid, smart, tenacious defense for 20+ seconds straight.
troy brown jr. had this gem of a possession for the washington wizards in their season opener against the philadelphia 76ers:
the sixers come down running a set with a few top-of-the-key dribble hand-off options to try and get some motion going.
troy goes from guarding mike scott to switching onto furkan korkmaz to denying the handoff from dwight howard to furkan to switching and denying the ball from shake milton:
his hustle whittles the 76ers' shot clock down to 7 seconds, and tyrese maxey is forced to try to create using a pick-and-roll. as he drives, troy comes in yet again to disrupt the play and force a kick out to shake.
shake is seemingly open for three until a beautiful closeout and recovery by troy makes him pump fake and drive instead. the final closeout to contest and not foul is a beauty as well to put the finishing touches on an excellent sequence:
*applause*
