there are few shots in basketball more disrespectful than the high-arcing floater over the outstretched arm of a shot blocker that drops softly in the basket. in game 4 of the 2020 nba finals, tyler herro gave us this gem:
that thing was even with the top of the shot clock! and it got me thinking - what other obnoxiously high-arcing floaters have i seen in my years watching the nba?

d'angelo russell doesn't just complete aesthetic passes. he also drains aesthetic shots, like this raindrop over brook lopez:
brook is a multiple-time victim to the high floater. cory joseph pushed this one over him while off-balance and falling down:

perhaps my favorite is this underhanded scoop from isaiah thomas over jonas valančiūnas. what an insanely difficult shot:

I remember being amazed by Herro's floater when it happened. Though I think it gave him some false confidence as I recall him missing that shot a couple more times afterwards, and was starting to wonder if him hitting that shot was actually a good thing for the Lakers.
